ST Scholarship Assam 2025
The Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Government of India, implements the Pre-Matric and Post-Matric Scholarship schemes to support the education of Scheduled Tribe (ST) students. The objective is to minimize the incidence of drop-out, especially during the transition from elementary to secondary and from secondary to higher education stages, enabling them to complete their academic careers.
The Directorate of Tribal Affairs (Plain), Assam, is inviting online applications for these centrally sponsored schemes through the National Scholarship Portal (NSP). Eligible ST students pursuing studies from Class IX to Post-Graduation level can apply starting from July 2025.

Post-Matric: Class XI, Diploma, Degree, Post-Graduation courses.
Eligibility Criteria:
Community: Applicant must belong to the Scheduled Tribe (ST) community of Assam.
Income: The total annual family income from all sources should not exceed ₹2,50,000/-.
School/College: Must be studying in a Government recognized School/College/Institute.
Bank Account: Must have a valid, Aadhaar-linked bank account in their name.
Other Scholarships: The student should not be availing any other scholarship for the same course.
Value of Pre-Matric Scholarship (Class IX & X)

Other Important Details of ST Scholarship
Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT): The scholarship amount will be transferred directly to the student’s Aadhaar-linked bank account.
Renewal of Scholarship: The scholarship is renewable every year. A student can renew their scholarship for the next class only after they have been promoted. Scholarship will not be awarded if a student has to repeat a class.
Income Certificate: An income certificate is required only once at the time of fresh application (e.g., at the time of admission to Class IX for Pre-Matric, or at the start of a course for Post-Matric). A fresh certificate is not required for annual renewals.
Additional Disability Allowance: Divyangjan students are eligible for an additional allowance. For hostelers, it is ₹800/month, and for day scholars, it is ₹600/month, provided they submit a valid disability certificate.

There is no application fee for applying to the ST Scholarship schemes on the National Scholarship Portal.

Candidates need to visit the official National Scholarship Portal (NSP) at https://scholarships.gov.in/ for the submission of their online application. Please follow the steps below.
