NMMS Scholarship Exam 2025
The Ministry of Education, Government of India, offers the National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship (NMMS) to support meritorious students from economically weaker sections. The Directorate of Secondary Education (DSE), Assam conducts the selection examination for students of Assam. The objective of the scheme is to award scholarships to prevent students from dropping out at class VIII and encourage them to continue their education at the secondary stage.
Students who qualify for the exam will receive a scholarship of ₹12,000 per year from Class IX to Class XII. Online applications are invited from students currently studying in Class VIII for the examination to be held on 15th November 2025.

Other Details of NMMS Exam
Eligible Schools: Only students studying in Government, Provincialised, and Local Body schools are eligible for the scholarship. Students from private schools may appear in the exam but will not be considered for the scholarship amount.
NSP Registration: It is mandatory for students to have a One Time Registration (OTR) on the National Scholarship Portal (NSP) before applying for the NMMS exam.
Exam Pattern: The exam will consist of Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ) on OMR sheets and will have two parts: Mental Ability Test (MAT) and Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT), each of 90 marks.
