SLET Exam 2024-2025
Candidates who want to become a professor need to qualify for a comprehensive test called SLET and NET, UGC has been conducting the NET exam as a central-level eligibility Test for Asst. Professor. SLET Commission conducts the SLET Exam at the State Level.
State Level Eligibility Test (SLET) for Asst. The professor is conducting a proposal to put forward for constituting the North East State Level Eligibility Test (NESLET) on 26-6-2000 to conduct such a test for the aspirant candidates of the North Eastern Region. It was subsequently constituted as SLET Commission Assam (N.E.Region). The name of the Test has again been modified to SET (STATE ELIGIBILITY TEST). Its member States at present are Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Mizoram, Manipur, Meghalaya, Sikkim and Tripura. Candidates from these states may apply for the SLET Exam.

If any candidate fails to pay the prescribed fee his/her form will be rejected without any intimation to the candidate. Below we have mentioned category-wise application fees for the SLET exam of the Assam NE region.

Eligibility Criteria of the SLET Exam
General/Unreserved/General-EWS candidates who have secured at least 55% marks in a Master’s Degree or equivalent examination from universities/institutions recognized by UGC are eligible for SLET. However, SC, ST, PWD, and OBC who have secured at least 50% marks in Master’s degree or equivalent examinations are eligible to Apply for SLET. |
Candidates who have appeared or will be appearing Final Year of their Master’s degree and the result is still awaited |
The Ph.D. degree holders whose Masters level examination had been completed by 19th September 1991 (irrespective of the date of declaration of result) shall be eligible for a relaxation of 5% in aggregate marks. (i.e., from 55% to 50%) for appearing in SET. |
Candidates belonging to OBC (Non-creamy layer)/SC/ST/PWD/General-EWS category are required to submit a copy of the category certificate along with their Application Forms while applying online. |

Syllabus & Exam Structure of SET Exam
SLET Syllabus
Paper–I | shall be of the general subject, intended to assess the teaching/research aptitude of the candidate. It will primarily be designed to test the reasoning ability, comprehension, divergent thinking and general awareness of the candidate. |
Paper-II | shall consist of 100 objective-type questions based on the subject. Each question will carry 2 marks. |
Exam Structure of SLET
The Test will consist of two papers. All two papers will have only objective-type questions
of the following forms:
- Multiple Choice
- Matching
- Assertion and Reasoning
- True and False
